Nicola is a graduate of the University of NSW where she completed a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Theatre Studies and History. In 2011 Nicola completed an Associate Diploma in Performing (Speech and Drama) from Trinity College of London (ATCL) with Distinction.
Nicola is currently a Speech and Drama and Communication Skills teacher at Abbotsleigh. She is qualified and experienced in teaching the Trinity College London programs from the Initial Grade through to Grade 8 and the Associate Diploma (ATCL). As a highly experienced Curriculum teacher and HSC Drama marker, she can guide and mentor students in the development of their HSC Drama performances to an exemplary level.
Nicola has over 25 years experience teaching Secondary Drama. She has taught Stages 4, 5 and 6 Curriculum Drama at a range of state and independent schools. She has 14 years experience teaching Stage 6 (Preliminary and HSC Drama) at several schools including Hunters Hill High, Auburn Girls High, Hornsby Girls High, Loretto Normanhurst and Abbotsleigh. Nicola also has considerable experience in marking HSC Drama Examinations. She marked the written paper for 10 years and has had the great privilege of marking HSC students’ performance work on numerous occasions from 2001-2019. This itinerant marking in both Sydney and Regional NSW involves assessing both their Group Performances and the Individual Project: Performance (monologues). This has extended Nicola’s understanding of how best to develop the acting skills of her own HSC students, a number of whom have been nominated and selected for OnSTAGE.
Nicola loves teaching and enjoys helping young people reach their goals and fulfil their potential. She can help a student develop their confidence and converse comfortably; deliver formal or informal speeches; improvise; learn and perform poetry, prose and scripts with truth and dynamics; guide them on their HSC performance journey and prepare for auditions.
